The Corporation for Supportive Housing of California (CSH) has selected Assembly Majority Floor Leader Toni Atkins as its 2012 Legislator of the Year in recognition of her continuing leadership in the arena of reducing homelessness and increasing the availability of affordable housing in California.
Toni Atkins, Assemblymember from California’s 76th Assembly District, receives the fifth annual Legislator of the Year Award from CalPACE to recognize her many contributions to the health and well-being of California seniors.
"A postage stamp draws attention to important people who may not be familiar to all Americans," Tony Atkins said. "Harvey Milk, who gave his life because he led the way for equality, is an ideal choice for this honor."
Four of the 10 elected officials who will be marching in the 2012 Pride Parade are part of the LGBT community, and none stand taller than Sen. Christine Kehoe, "our own Harvey Milk - the first LGBT elected official in San Diego."
