Stephen Whitburn announced his campaign for San Diego City Council District 3 today. 

This district includes Downtown, Balboa Park, and the neighborhoods of Bankers Hill, Golden Hill, Hillcrest, Little Italy, Middletown, Mission Hills, Normal Heights, North Park, Old Town, Park West, South Park, and University Heights.

San Diego, CA – San Diego Pride is pleased to announce that an agreement with LGBT leaders has cleared the way for the community to come together in support of the 2017 San Diego Pride events.

In a month-long battle with the San Diego Pride Board, the Community Negotiating Committee, put in place to arrange terms on the future direction of the organization, has released a letter stating that talks have “gone nowhere.”

In light of last night's public outcry for his return to the Pride board, Stephen Whitburn wrote a small note to the community this evening: 

"I want to say how deeply grateful I am for your expressions of how meaningful you've found the work we've all done together.

Emotions ran high at the public San Diego Pride Board meeting on Wednesday night.

Sixty-five people, sought answers to some issues they have about the conduct of the current Board, such as the absence of meeting minutes and financial statements, outdated since 2015.

In a recent article San Diego Gay and Lesbian News (SDGLN) broke the story that Executive Director Stephen Whitburn was relieved of his position as head of the organization, but the question still remains, Why?

Word is coming through SDGLN from a reliable source that  Executive Director of San Diego Pride Stephen Whitburn is no longer with the organization.

Several sources have told SDGLN that Whitburn was asked to step aside, although we are not able to confirm this through San Diego Pride after multiple e-mail attempts.
