This week there was a variety of coverage in San Diego Gay and Lesbian News. First, police were called into Hillcrest after someone found a dead body on Sunday morning. This week we also celebrated half a century since the LGBT community rose up against authority at the Stonewall Inn in New York, beginning the gay liberation movement. 

Pride month is in full swing and so are the celebrations. Many cities are enjoying Pride festivities and with that comes both the good and bad. The good are the many events that commemorate Stonewall, the genesis of the Gay Rights Movement.

Locally San Diego drag queens reach "legendary" status in a new exhibit at the San Diego History Center. 

The variety of events for LGBT people and their allies in San Diego seems to grow each week especially during June and July when the city prepares for its Pride festivities. This week it's time to celebrate the limitless talent of local drag queens who have entertained San Diego for decades.

The month is half-over and already the kick-off celebrations are starting for San Diego Pride. From camping to Overdrive, to Top of the Bay, the energy is building up which will lead us into July. Until then, take a look at what there is to do in the community this week. There is something for everyone.

Thanks to Memorial Day Weekend it was a short news week but there was still a lot to report when it came to the community especially the news that Pride of Hillcrest Block Party is returning, and the naming of San Diego Pride music festival stage headliners. 

It's been about two months since the search started for the first ever Mr. Flicks. On Thursday the hunt is over.

Three of San Diego's entertainment powerhouses, SDPIX, Flicks, and LE Parties joined forces to search for the very first Mr. Flicks, and on Thursday, May 30, they will crown their man. 

The two-month-long hunt saw many contestants vying for the role, but only one can come away with the title. 

It's Memorial Day Weekend and that means the unofficial kick-off to summer is here. But you don't have to wait until Monday to celebrate because there is so much happening around town this week that you might want to take an extra day off.
