Dog rescued from Cowles Mountain after heat exhaustion

Dogs and humans had to be rescued at a popular San Diego hiking trail over the weekend.

A Golden Retriever had to be rescued from Cowles Mountain after suffering from exhaustion on Sunday reports Fox 5 News.

Park rangers say the pet had been with its owner on the popular San Diego landmark since 9 am.

Three days of wet weather starting Tuesday

Wind and rain are in the forecast this week as San Diego prepares for its first spring storm starting on Tuesday, March 21. 

Heavy showers will increase on Wednesday and dwindle by Thursday, while heavy winds will persist in the mountain and desert areas, reports the National Weather Service.  

San Diego sandbag disbursement locations

Various San Diego locations will have sandbags, but it is encouraged that you call ahead.

As San Diego prepares for a series of storms to pass through the area, many residents are concerned about flooding either at their homes or businesses.

Sandbags will not be given out at San Diego Fire Department or Lifeguard stations.

Six days of heavy rain this week could break San Diego records

San Diego will experience a series of heavy storms this week and into next.

San Diego has great weather 90-percent of the time, but when it rains it pours. Such will be the case this week as forecasters are predicting a powerful series of storms heading into the area, dropping from 2” to 4” of rain along the coast.

Valleys are expected to get 5” of precipitation and the mountain areas could experience a record 10” says the National Weather Service.

TODAY! San Diego beaches put under tsunami advisory

A two-foot tsunami-related swell is expected to roll in about 8:41 am PT, according to the tsunami-warning agency. Other similar swells will roll in throughout the day as the Pacific Ocean reacts to one of the worst quakes and tsunamis in modern history.
