This week we saw a horrific potential hate crime come out of Chicago. There was also a serious private registry leak in Singapore. To contrast the bad news, on the entertainment front, two great events are happening this month; the Leather Fetish Ball and "Gay as F--k" at Rich's. A message from SD Pride about trans military ban

These continued attacks are about so much more than only transgender servicemembers: they diminish, devalue, and dehumanize all trans people.

Dear Pride Family, 

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court voted to allow a ban on transgender servicemembers, while the issue makes its way through lower courts, putting upwards of 15,000 trans servicemembers and their families at risk.

America honored the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday which meant some people had a short work week.

There was big news from the Supreme Court as they voted to put Trump's trans military ban into effect even before pending cases in lower courts could determine if such a ban is unconstitutional.

There was a lot of news both locally and nationally this week. There were a few local crimes, one resulting in a man severely biting another in Hillcrest. There was also a fundraiser and just plain fun in "Out & About."

It was a short week this week as we rang in the new year. But there was plenty to report on both locally and nationally including new scooter laws that went into effect and San Diego Pride getting you pumped for this year's festival with presale, discounted tickets.

SD Pride announces dates and theme for 2019

Winter has barely begun and San Diego Pride is already looking forward to summer. Today Pride's Executive Director Fernando Z. López announced the theme and date of next year's festival.

The Stonewall Riots, a pivotal point in LGBT activism, marks its 50th anniversary in 2019 and Pride is honoring the event.

Some of our movement’s earliest pioneers like José Julio Sarria, the first openly LGBTQ person to run for public office in the US, and Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to public office, served in our country’s military before ever leading our community.
