Countdown to DADT repeal: Gay war hero Eric Alva to celebrate historic moment in San Diego

Eric Alva was somewhat uncomfortable with all the attention his war hero status brought him after losing a leg in Iraq in 2003. But since coming out in 2007, he has proudly basked in the attention he's received from being a gay war hero. Next week, Alva will be in San Diego to celebrate the official repeal of the ban on gays and lesbians serving in the U.S. military.
