San Diego Pride and TransFamily Support Services, with Champions of Health in partnership with the County of San Diego County, have teamed up to host a vaccination clinic to administer COVID-19 first shots, second shots, and booster shots of Moderna and Pfizer to those who are eligible. Flu vaccines will also be available.

SoCal meningococcal disease cases spike among gay men

The California Department of Public Health is reporting an increase in cases of invasive meningococcal disease in Southern California, particularly in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The cluster of cases in the last several months has disproportionately affected men who have sex with men and is prompting the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency to issue an advisory.

New initiative aims to stop HIV infections in San Diego County

A new HIV case is diagnosed in the region every 18 hours.

The County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved an initiative to get the number of new HIV infections in San Diego to zero. With the vote, the Board directed the County Health and Human Services Agency to begin implementing the Getting to Zero initiative and put an end to the epidemic in the region.

Twelve community clinics have formed Integrated Health Partners (IHP), a consortium to advance the standards and reduce the costs of care at primary health centers. They represent more than 70 practice sites, including one in Bankers Hill just north of Downtown.

The Hillcrest Town Council (HTC) exists to share and discuss with our neighbors a variety of topics of interest throughout the year. Our September meeting focused on health, and gave participants the opportunity to learn more about the two major hospitals in Hillcrest, UCSD Health and Scripps Mercy.
