The Crest Cafe, a family-owned cafe known as a staple in San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood, is the latest recipient of grant funding from Dave Portnoy’s The Barstool Fund. The fund was created in Dec. 2020 as a small business COVID-19 relief organization.

Those of you who have been in Hillcrest for the past three or four decades don't need an introduction to the Crest Cafe. Its reputation precedes itself with multiple awards, reality show appearances, and a dining room constantly filled to capacity with satisfied and well-fed customers.

A rash of crime hit the San Diego Hillcrest community this week. The biggest being a shooter who took his semi-automatic rifle and fired it inside a restaurant filled with patrons and employees. Police apprehended the shooter and are currently investigating whether or not to call it a hate crime.
