Local organizations to honor Harvey Milk on May 22

The Equality Business Alliance, the Imperial Court de San Diego, San Diego Remembers, and the San Diego LGBT Visitors Center, will host a virtual event on on Saturday, May 22 to honor the late Harvey Milk on what would be his birthday.

A virtual wreath laying ceremony will be from the Harvey Milk Memorial Bench in Balboa Park and community members are encouraged to tune in.

December Nights in Balboa Park is on ... sort of.

For more than 40 years the San Diego community has celebrated the annual December Nights at Balboa Park. Due to the current pandemic conditions, this year's event will be a bit different. The City of San Diego invites everyone to Balboa Park during the first weekend of December for a "Taste of December Nights.”

Trans woman stabs man in Balboa Park, police report

Transgender female allegedly stabs male in Balboa Park according to police.

Police are on the lookout for a transgender female who stabbed a man in Balboa Park on Thursday, March 16 just before 7 pm. 

It happened underneath the Cabrillo Bridge on the 900 block of El Prado in the historic park.

Police tell San Diego Gay and Lesbian News, the 42-year-old male victim had a verbal argument with the assailant who he said was “transitioning to female."

Marston Point in Balboa Park, a part of San Diego's gay history

Marston Point is an important part of San Diego's LGBT history.

Marston Point in Balboa Park has a long and sordid LGBT history. It was there that many men sought the comfort of others in illegal sexual activities long before the age of Grindr, and Scruff.

The area, mostly cruised by men was a place to quench the carnal appetite during the 50’s and 60’s, a time when such desires may have landed you in jail, or worse.

Body found in Balboa Park early Monday morning

The victim was of unknown age who had massive injuries to the head.

Balboa Park was the scene of a police investigation early Monday morning after someone reported finding a dead body off Park Boulevard between Morley Field Drive and Zoo Place at approximately 2 am.

Park Boulevard was closed to traffic until just before 7 am.
