A 26-year-old gay man is accusing two immigration guards in El Centro, Calif. of making anti-gay slurs at him, violently roughing him up while in custody, and putting in danger his health and his life.

Mexico's Supreme Court rules that homophobic slurs are not legally protected in the country's constitution as freedom of speech and says that any citizen offended by these words now could seek redress by suing for moral damages.
"We cannot rest on our laurels. Much how we have yet to fully extinguish the scars of racism in our society, we have yet to address the issues that contribute to this kind of destructive behavior toward the LGBTQ community -- my community."
