The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Project TRANS presents Transgender Day of Remembrance 2021 on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 5-6 pm at Waterfront Park. located at 1600 Pacific Hwy. San Diego, CA 92101.
The purpose of the event is to honor the memory of our transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse community members whose lives were taken through acts of anti-transgender violence that year. This event is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be provided. Everyone is asked to please wear a mask and socially distance, if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please stay home and enjoy the livestream from our Project TRANS at The Center Facebook page!
During the event, the San Diego County Administration Building will be lit up in light blue, white and pink, the colors of the Transgender Pride Flag! This year is a call to action, and we are heavily relying on our civil rights leaders and community organizers to denounce the hatred taking innocent lives all across the globe! We are tirelessly fighting for a more equitable and safer San Diego, and deserve to live proudly without fear and navigate the world without harm! This event will include a beautiful traditional dance, song and land acknowledgment from the Kumeyaay Nation, a spiritual blessing from The Metropolitan Community Church, keynote speech, and concluding with a memorial tribute.
