The flag will fly on the Hillcrest pole in honor of Transgender Awareness Week which is held from Nov. 13-19. The Hillcrest Pride Flag is managed by the Hillcrest Business Association and is one of the few public LGBTQ flag poles that regularly allows other community flags besides the traditional rainbow pride flag. The Hillcrest Pride Flag pole has flown the leather pride flag, transgender pride flag, bear pride flag, bisexual pride flag, as well as the progress pride flag.
At the Saturday morning ceremony, transgender and nonbinary community leaders will share inspiring words.
ASL interpretation has been confirmed for the event, and while the event is being held outdoors, organizers are asking participants to wear masks and practice social distancing.
The event will also be livestreamed from the Project TRANS at The Center page for those unable to attend in person.
