It's been 52-years since the Stonewall Riots occurred in June 1969.
As you began to scroll social media today, you likely were bombarded with rainbows throughout your feed. That's because today marks the beginning of Pride Month around the globe, marking 52 years since the June 1969 Stonewall Riots which are considered by many to the beginning of the modern LGBTQ rights movement.
We've come a long way since 1969 but there is still so much more work to be done.
San Diego LGBT News is looking forward to be a part of that work as we continue to share news and information of importance to the community, spotlight the work of the people and organizations that do the work, and not be shy of criticism of our community's institutions, leaders, and organizations when it is warranted. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at any time with feedback or story tips. We want to provide a forum that is inclusive of the many interests that exist within our community.
And however you choose to celebrate Pride, take some time to remember those who came before us that helped pave the way for today's LGBTQ community to have it a little easier than they did.
