The QAPIMEDA Coalition has thrived in the last year to cultivate community resilience by being a space of support and spearheading anti-racist efforts locally.
This month we're happy to feature the work of the San Diego Queer APIMEDA Coalition! During the pandemic, QAPIMEDA (Queer Asian, Pacific-Islander, Middle Eastern, Desi-American) led the charge and put out a joint statement with over 80 local Asian Pacific Islander organizations denouncing xenophobia, racism, and increasing acts of violence towards API communities.
To keep the community connected and safe, the coalition hosted a series of online events including a three-part series called "Reclaiming Self-Care" discussing decolonizing mental wellness and how we all can reclaim our self-care practices. Now, in 2021, they are kicking off the year with a fun Brunch & Learn to connect with more community members and then starting a series called: Asian Accomplices Series: Uprooting Anti-Blackness in Our Communities.
