Mayhem Miller will be at the GTFO Party at Rich's

This week there was a lot going on. First, there were more LGBT oriented Super Bowl commercials shown during the broadcast than ever before and Starbucks warmed the internet's heart with a new ad featuring a trans man.

Locally a large section of a popular Hillcrest street was sold for millions and a tourist visiting San Diego with his husband and son were harassed by an Uber driver who called police on them saying he thought they were child traffickers.

Local entertainment is getting a new party at Rich's called GTFO and there is a Valentine's Day Giveaway that you should sign up for to make your day even more special.

All of this and so much more in this week's Weekly Wrap.

An ample piece of property in the heart of Hillcrest was sold by Carleton Management to Paragon Real Estate for $13.3 million reports the San Diego Union-Tribune

As if the Iowa caucuses couldn't get more confusing, one democratic voter just found out Mayor Pete Buttigieg is gay and wanted her vote card back.

Last Wednesday a gay couple visiting San Diego were shocked when police knocked on their Marriott Marina hotel room door in the early hours. According to Towleroad one of the dads, James Moed, says the incident happened on January 29 after an Uber ride.

Fernando Zweifach López of San Diego Pride reminds you to vote for an LGBT community member for this year’s Spirit of Stonewall Awards: "While much has changed in that time, what remains consistent is the need to lift up and support those doing the important work to serve and fight for our community every day."

Beloved community member Darius Maleknia sadly passed away at the end of January. He had many friends who are heartbroken upon hearing of his death. You can help the family with funeral costs and expenses.

The Super Bowl was charged with Latinx political statements during the spectacular half-time show starring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. But the LGBT community was also well-represented, much to the dismay of some conservatives, during the intermissions. In fact, according to GLAAD this was a landmark broadcast as far as representing the pink dollar. And it's not even June.

Social media has found a Starbucks UK television spot wherein a young trans man named James is having a rough time with people always calling him Jemma, the name he was apparently given at birth. Even his father is aloof.
