There was some concerning news coming out of South Dakota this week as a bill passed that would criminalize trans-specific medical treatments by doctors to anyone under 16. 

In sports, Brazilian soccer players don't use the number 24 because it is associated with being gay. After the tragedy of Kobe Bryant's death--he used the number when playing for the Lakers, Brazilian athletes are taking back the number to combat homophobia. 

In local news, California Governor Gavin Newsom and California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins visited a local catering company that is working together with a non-profit to ease homelessness.

For over nine years San Diego's catering and meal prep company The Urban Taste has provided 100% of the foodservice (non-profit) for the Connections Housing Center. As they recently passed the 1.2 million meals served from that kitchen they were recently visited by California Governor Gavin Newsom and California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G.
