This week there was a lot of activity in Hillcrest, especially on Tuesday when the Hillcrest Business Association elected their new board members amid a party that celebrates the new Normal Street Promenade project. In addition to all the fun, wayfinding kiosks were unveiled which point visitors to different landmarks in the historic district.

Also, San Diego Gay and Lesbian News profiled Marcia Villavicencio, a first-generation Latina who is rising up through the ranks in the Navy. Her story is inspirational especially this week when we celebrate National Coming Out Day.

It wouldn't be the weekend without some fun, so check out our edition of "Out & About," which showcases everything there is to do in the neighborhood and take special note of Rich's 28th Anniversary celebration happening on Saturday.

All of this and so much more in this week's Weekly Wrap.

Finding your way around Hillcrest just got a little bit easier as new wayfinder kiosks were unveiled Tuesday night at the Re-Imagine Normal Street event at Pride plaza.

Marcia Villavicencio is getting prepared for the biggest day of her life so far. It's not a birthday milestone or a wedding or even the birth of a child. Marcia is getting commissioned as a Naval officer after 15 years of service and as a first-generation gay American Latina the journey from enlisted member to an officer spans countries and time zones.

San Diego Pride Executive Director talks about his coming out story and why it's important for others to safely do the same.

In honor of LGBT History Month SDGLN profiles some of the people in the community wh have made a difference:

Kwame Anthony Appiah, Ph.D.: Born in London, England, Appiah grew up in Ghana. His father, a native Ghanaian, was a well-known lawyer and politician. His mother, the daughter of a British statesmen, was an author and scholar. Their widely publicized marriage was one of the first interracial “society weddings” in Britain. It is thought to have inspired the 1967 film, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”

Dr. Ethel Allen: Dr. Allen was an osteopath and a groundbreaking Republican politician. She became the first African-American woman on the Philadelphia City Council.

Cardi B has a few unchoice words for Access Hollywood's Joe Budden including hoping his "mother catch AIDS...” The rapper was not happy with how an interview she did while promoting her latest project was issued in the final cut.

Our theater critic saw two shows this week: Here are her reviews of "Almost Famous," and "Noura."

Rich's is San Diego's largest and most popular gay dance club and it's turning 28. To celebrate they are throwing a party featuring some of the best music from the region's most talented DJs. And a special guest performance by Pepper Mashay!

Rex is a male, neutered, American Pit Bull Terrier. He is 4-years-old. His ID number is #181383. He is available through the San Diego Humane Society.

When mixologist Moe Girton became co-owner and Creative Director of Spirits & Wine of San Diego’s insideOUT, she was tasked with creating an upscale and elevated cocktail menu. Here are some tips from Moe on pairing liquors with meals.

It's almost been three decades since Rich's opened its doors and this Saturday it's time to come out and celebrate this milestone for their 28th birthday. Whether you go there for the great dance parties or the signature Diva drag shows, Rich's has become a favorite destination in Hillcrest and it's easy to see why.

Being open about your sexual orientation in the workplace is beneficial to your overall well-being, according to new research from Rice University.
