In the news this week we learned the date of the annual Nicky Awards. The prestigious statuettes are handed out to people in the LGBT community and their allies who have made positive changes, raised money, or created safe and inclusive spaces for the community at large. 

A water main broke earlier in the week causing street flooding at the corner of 7th and Robinson Avenues in Hillcrest. 

Also, the social calendar includes a great list of fun activities and parties including Dream Machine at Rich's featuring DJ Robbie Rivera.

Water took the place of traffic in Hillcrest Monday night after a main broke in one of the neighborhood's busiest intersections.

A peaceful Pride march turned ugly in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on September 15 when conservative protestors sought out LGBT participants and attacked them. The incident was caught on camera and comes with a trigger warning. 

On Monday ridesharing service Lyft announced they have launched a new edition of their own brand of scooters in San Diego. Lyft  joined the market back in December 2018 with many other companies such as Bird or Lime. 

Dallas police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect who they believe shot a transgender woman. They are treating the case as a hate crime. It happened on Friday in a residential area on the city's northwest region along a four-lane road.

Restaurants in Mission Hills, Liberty Station, Ocean Beach and others under the ANI brand will close at the end of this week due to a federal investigation involving business owner Gina Champion-Cain.

The United States doesn't always get to watch Britsh shows, and a lot of fans of RuPaul's Drag Race were worried about where they could view the U.K. version of the series. Those concerns were relieved today as Logo announced the show will be skipping over the pond and landing at its home network.


All your dreams are about to come true on Saturday, September 28 as SDPIX, and Rich's Nightclub brings back Dream Machine, one of their most popular events with energy to spare. 

The spirit of summer and the '70's remains alive this week at the Porto Vista Hotel for SDPIX's Top of the Bay's Friday Night Fever featuring DJ Rick Betta (above).

San Diego is at the forefront of change in the LGBT community not only locally, but worldwide, and every year the people who are directly involved with those changes are recognized with Nicky nominations
