Law enforcement officials in Newport Oregon have arrested a man who reportedly beat up a trans woman, leaving her with a broken jaw. It happened on August 24, the victim, Lauren Jackson, was at Agate Beach State Park and needed to use the bathroom.
The not-so-highly-anticipated Boston Straight Pride marched into infamy this past Saturday as more counterprotesters attended the event than actual supporters. According to Out, only about 100 to 200 people cared to participate in the rally and parade, including alt-right and openly gay internet reactionary Milo Yiannopoulus.
The Las Vegas LGBTQ center in downtown Las Vegas was vandalized with a homophobic epithet this week, the incident comes just three months after a tree outside the building was set ablaze by an arsonist.
Ellen Holzman talks about two LGBT refugees and their journeys, both with very different outcomes, "I met Juan I and Juan II while they were detained in Otay Mesa Detention Center, a San Diego immigration prison. Both are 20 years old, both are gay. Juan I is from Venezuela. Juan II began his journey north in El Salvador."
