Snow Tha Product headlines Mundo Latino stage.

San Diego Pride has announced that actress and rapper Snow Tha Product will headline the Mundo Latino stage at this year’s San Diego Pride Music Festival on Saturday, July 13-14 in Balboa Park.

The San Jose native moved to San Diego at a young age. She sells out venues and has become a popular artist with a loyal following thanks to her unique style. Snow recently began a thirty date tour called Goin Off. She will take a brief break from that stint to celebrate Pride in San Diego among the thousands of concert-goers and fands who will attend the festival this year.

“We’re honored to have such a strong activist and entertainer headline our Mundo Latino stage,” said San Diego Pride Entertainment Director Gardenia Partridge. “As a fellow Latina, I’m proud to have Snow The Product grace our stage and be a visible icon for other LGBTQ Latinx folks attending San Diego Pride Festival.”

With over 90 global musical acts, San Diego Pride Music Festival has become one of the most attended Pride events in the country.

The Mundo Latino stage will showcase over a dozen Latinx acts and entertainers in a variety of genres like Folklorico, Latin pop, Cumbia, Salsa and Contemporary. The stage and area are hosted by the San Diego County LGBTQ Latinx Coalition, which provides resources to the local Latinx community.

Snow Tha Product got noticed soon after the release of her independent album called  “Unorthodox” in October 2011.  Singles like “Drunk Love” and “Woke Wednesday” became viral hits and her place in music history was born. Known for her rapid-fire style of rapping in both English and Spanish, Snow Tha Product’s popularity grew with collaborative projects with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Tech N9ne and more. Snow Tha Product has been transparent about using her Latino background and platform to bring awareness to the social issues she observes within her community. Adam Bernard of RapReviews.com, impressed by her work, said, “[Snow] may very well be one of the leaders of. . . of a bold new era of female emcees.”

“As a Latina and a member of the LGBT community, I couldn’t be more proud to be coming back to a place I grew up in to represent my authentic self and community as a headliner for one of the biggest pride celebrations in the world,” sand Snow Tha Product. “I’m going to put on a hell of a show.”

The Mundo Latino stage and area are dedicated to showcasing musical talent in the Latinx LGBTQ community and is one of five performance stages at San Diego Pride. It is “musica Latina en español” featuring the best entertainment in Rock en Español, DJs, folkloric dancing and more. Past Mundo Latino headliners include Graciela Beltran, Lucia Mendez, America Sierra, Ricky Lips, Rocio Banquells, AB Soto and more.

The main stage 2019 headliners are Melissa Etheridge and King Princess. Previous San Diego Pride performers include Ke$ha, TLC, Kathy Griffin, JoJo, Kim Petras, Margaret Cho, En Vogue, Estelle, Ruby Rose, and Big Freedia.

The annual two-day festival draws in over 45,000 visitors and offers vendor booths, educational and art exhibits, cultural presentations, delicious food booths and more. This year’s festival theme pulls its inspiration from the Stonewall Riots as it marks its 50th anniversary. It also aims to serve as a tribute to the Stonewall generation, their activism and all that the LGBTQ community has gained through their efforts.

The Pride Parade is the largest single-day civic event in the San Diego region and is the sixth largest Pride celebration in the United States, attracting over 250,000 people.

San Diego Pride was formed in 1974 as a sponsored program of The Center for Social Services which produced the first Lesbian and Gay Parade in San Diego in 1975 to celebrate the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion on New York’s Christopher Street. San Diego Pride was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1994.

Tickets for the San Diego Pride Festival are currently on sale at www.sdpride.org. The San Diego Pride Parade takes place Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public. All proceeds from the festival and parade support San Diego Pride’s LGBTQ-centered philanthropy and year-round education and advocacy programs. Invite your friends on Facebook at www.bit.ly/sdpf19.
