SDGLN Weekly Wrap: March 16 - March 22, 2019

Here is everything we covered in SDGLN this week.

Some local controversy in the San Diego Unified School District tops the news this week with accusations coming from a man who says District B trustee Kevin Beiser sexually assaulted him. Also, check your calendar and fill in any empty spots with things from this week's "Out & About." Also get your tickets for the upcoming Taste of Hillcrest. Plus so much more in this week's Wrap.

A man is suing San Diego Unified School Board member Kevin Beiser for unspecified damages accusing him of sexual assault and sexual harassment.

A man who crashed while riding an electric scooter downtown died in the hospital this past Friday. Police say that this is the first documented death as a result of dockless scooter usage.

With the popularity of Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) in some of America's well-known cities, it is pretty surprising that San Diego doesn't have a chapter yet. But there might be one soon

Some people are concerned about the Hillcrest Business Association's (HBA) changes to the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party this year. This neighborhood event is considered a kick-off to San Diego Pride and takes place right after the Spirit of Stonewall Rally. This year that falls on July 12.

In yet another sign of his campaign’s building momentum, California State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), a Democratic candidate for San Diego Mayor in 2020, announced today the endorsement of California State Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins.

The San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC), San Diego's premier lesbian-identified community chorus, is proud to present a monumental 2019 spring concert performance titled "Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall.

One of the biggest entertainment events in San Diego is taking a break this year. The FilmOut LGBT Film Festival is on hiatus until 2020, but they are taking the time to retool the festival and create other things. Some of which are already creating a lot of a buzz.

Thor's hammer may have the power to bring enemies to their knees, but over the weekend the actor who plays him, Chris Hemsworth, left the internet defenseless against his backside.

Our theater critic Jean Lowerison reviews "Angels in America," and the musical "Chaps!"

Joey Amato travels to Cape Cod on a Pride Journey: "Cape Cod is known for attracting throngs of LGBTQ beach and party goers to its northmost tip, Provincetown. Having never been to P-Town, the locals found it surprising that I would visit during the winter when the town's population is a fraction of what it is during the summer."

It's that time again when we give you all the details about everything that's going on in the community to get you off the couch and "Out & About."

Three of San Diego's entertainment powerhouses, SDPIX, Flicks, and Le Parties have joined forces to crown the very first Mr. Flicks

America's Finest City is also becoming a world-class culinary destination and SDPIX is looking for your nominations to find San Diego's best restaurant.

The White Party Palm Springs is an annual gay event that contains so much fun and so many surprises ticket options sell out quickly, and this year is going to be more epic than ever as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

OUT at the Opera is a special night of Pride which will showcase the classic "Carmen."

Those of you who have walked throughout historic Hillcrest to sample items for Taste of Hillcrest in previous years know it's true when people say that San Diego is becoming one of the best culinary destinations.
