A rash of crime hit the San Diego Hillcrest community this week. The biggest being a shooter who took his semi-automatic rifle and fired it inside a restaurant filled with patrons and employees. Police apprehended the shooter and are currently investigating whether or not to call it a hate crime.

A local jewelry store was also robbed by a gang of masked suspects who fled the scene with an undetermined amount of merchandise.

There is also a fundraiser currently underway to repair and prevent any further damage to the Pride flag memorial that was hit by vandalism last week.

That and the rest of the news in this edition of the Weekly Wrap.

Hillcrest was a hotbed of police activity on Tuesday night when police responded to reports of a shooter in front of the Asian Bistro on University Avenue. One man is in custody.

Two plaques beneath the Pride Flag on University Avenue and Normal Street were scratched up and damaged with what looks like an object sharp enough to make deep gashes in the surface. A current fundraiser is gathering money to repair and prevent any further such activity against the LGBT monument.

Just after 9 pm Sunday night, two men were involved in a verbal argument in the south alley of 2900 El Cajon Blvd in North Park. When one man released his dog on the other.
