The ridesharing service Lyft is getting people to the polls today for a discounted price.

They say they want to make it easier for people to cast their ballots who don't have transportation to the polls. "Lyft wanted to remove that barrier and make it easier for people across the country to exercise their right to vote," they said in a press release

They say they are taking 50-percent off on rides to the polls throughout San Diego.

Lyft will also provide rides free of cost through nonpartisan, nonprofit partners in San Diego like Faith in Action, and nationally, Voto Latino and National Federation of the Blind, to individuals from underserved communities who have traditionally faced more significant transportation barriers than other populations (source).

“At Lyft, we’re working to improve lives by connecting people and their communities through the world’s best transportation. This Election Day, we want to help people in San Diego County exercise their right to vote,” said Hao Meng, market manager for Lyft San Diego. “Every voice is important, and we’re excited to help make them heard in this year’s elections.”

Faith in Action, formerly known as PICO National Network, is the largest grassroots, faith-based organizing network in the United States. The nonpartisan organization works with 1,000 religious congregations in more than 200 cities and towns through its 45 local and state federations. For more information click HERE.
