To bring awareness to the prevention of the disease, Assemblymember Todd Gloria recently authored Assembly Concurrent Resolution 258 (ACR 258) to establish Aug. 16, 2018, as PrEP and PEP Awareness Day in California. PrEP and PEP stand for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis respectively.
