Pride events are times which celebrate how far we have come in the community, who has gathered to rally in our defense and who will continue to do so in the future. It's even a time for some perhaps still living in the closet, to become inspired, feel accepted. As San Diego Pride Executive Director Fernando Z. López says, "Pride is wherever you are, and however you choose to celebrate it. This time is for you. Be brave. Be bold."

San Diego Pride is one of the biggest in the nation and with it comes a gathering of men and women whose voices inspire, reaching beyond just those present.

But it is a party after all and every year its organizers bring in top-notch entertainers to revel right along with the community as we honor our truest of selves.

"During Pride we allow ourselves the peace of unwringing the calloused hands of our movement and simply celebrate," says López. "Claim for yourself the feeling of freedom as the San Diego sunshine bounces off your skin as you hold tightly to the ones you love, our unbound voices calling out for justice or cheering on our found family. At Pride, we all have a uniquely beautiful opportunity to lay down our differences and lift up our diversity. We cast aside the shackles of shame and unapologetically embrace the ability to be radically authentic to ourselves."

Here is some helpful information on San Diego Pride from official events to parking and transportation. And remember. like this year's theme reminds us, have fun and, "Persist with Pride."
