In Hillcrest, extreme pruning on the 1000 block of University Ave. was not approved by the City, leaving many to wonder who left a tree nearly branchless, and why. And Chris Ward will chair special committee to work on homelessness issues in his districts including Hillcrest. 

The San Diego Pride Board appoints new executive director Eric Heinritz, formerly of Milwaukee Pride. 

Rady's Children's Hospital reports that dog bites are on the rise against children they know.

Chelsea Manning is released from prison on Wednesday, a group hangs banner underneath Hillcrest sign, calling her a patriot.   The next day Manning reveals her new look on Instagram.

In Nevada, conversion therapy is now illegal after Governor signs bill into law.

Closer to home, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office enacts new policy to protect transgender suspects and witnesses.  

The security guard who was caught pleasuring himself in front of the Charger Girls during a game last December pleads guilty and gets a three-year probation.


San Diego's own Nicole Murray-Ramirez will be among other activists as they are Grand Marshals for Capital Pride.   


Former councilmember and current radio show host of The DeMaio Report headed to Orange County last weekend and successfully gathered over 6,000 signatures for a petition to recall California State Senator Josh Newman.


In Jim Winsor's "Out & About" he celebrates the fact that University Ave. has no more vacant business fronts for the first time in 17 years, adding to the fun for the week. 

"Overdrive" is always an exciting night filled with music and dance. This Saturday is no different with special guest, DJ Nina Flowers. 

The SDCCU Festival of Arts takes over North Park and it's fun for the whole family with food, music and art.

The Hillcrest Town Council welcomes new board member Jae Mohr into their ranks.

Hallmark is taking a step towards unity as they release a "Transgender/Transitioning” greeting card to congratulate people on their transition. 


A Toronto Blue Jays player has been suspended for using a gay slur aimed at  Atlanta Braves pitcher Jason Motte during a game.
