The Golden West is the theme of San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) performance  titled California Dreamin’ which crusies into The Balboa Theatre on April 23 and 24.

Songs in the key of the California coast will be showcased in this special concert created by Artistic Director RC Haus.

The SDGMC will lower the drawbridge at Disneyland for songs that define every generation. A Tectonic shift will also rumble through the theater as the men shake the rafters with Adeles’s “Rolling in the Deep,” and a special rendition of “California Girls” is better than anything you can tune into your transistor radio.

“This isn’t just a concert—it’s a SHOW!” proclaimed Haus. “So hold onto your surfboards and put sunscreen on the kids because we’re getting ready to have a lot of fun with some really fantastic music.”

The chorus is comprised of 160 voices which will travel down Highway 101 with memories from the foggy north: “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” to the sunny south: “Hotel California.”

The San Diego Women’s Chorus makes a special appearance completing the lyrical road trip as they follow the Mission Trail south of the border with songs that showcase the Golden State's diverse Latin culture.

The Mood Swings ensemble switches on the television set with a hilarious set of theme songs. Take a trip with the Clampett’s to “The Beverly Hillbillies,” or spend time with the original blended family, “The Brady Bunch.”

"You never know what to expect at one of our shows—except that you’ll always have a wonderful time,” said Bob Lehman, SDGMC Executive Director. “And that’s because our singers will be having a wonderful time as well.”

So step into your huarache sandals, put the top down on the convertable and head to the Balboa Theatre to enjoy their homage to the land of the free-way with California Dreamin'.
