SAN DIEGO, California -- The next meeting of the Hillcrest Town Council (HTC), scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 pm, will include presentations focusing on the future of the Uptown area.
Following the usual public comment and updates from representatives of elected officials, Alan Hoffman will speak on the Uptown 2025 Proposal. From the HTC newsletter:
Mr. Hoffman is the founder of The Mission Group, a consulting firm that specializes in applying the insights of market research to the challenges of urban areas. He has consulted on a wide range of transit, parking, and urban redevelopment studies and has contributed to regional long-term planning in cities around the world, in addition to serving as a frequent workshop and conference speaker on transit markets, planning, and transit-oriented development. A former professor of management at the INCAE Business School in Central America, Mr. Hoffman has also consulted to the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the US Agency for International Development.
He holds Master’s degrees from MIT (Urban Studies and Planning) and Harvard University (Administration, Planning, and Social Policy), in addition to a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University (social sciences). He has taught courses in transportation-related issues through the University of Queensland, UC Davis, and San Diego’s New School of Architecture.
After Hoffman's proposal, community members Roy Dahl and Tom Mullaney will give an update on the Uptown Community Plan, in which a draft update was recently released. View the draft HERE.
All Hillcrest residents - renters and owners - and other interested citizens are encouraged to attend HTC's community meetings.
The meeting will take place at the Joyce Beers Community Center at 3900 Vermont St. in the HUB.
