SAN DIEGO -- The deadline for PFLAG San Diego's annual student scholarship is fast approaching. Applications are due Friday.
Each year, PFLAG San Diego and its collaborators provide thousands of dollars of scholarships to LGBT students pursuing higher education. Minimum scholarship amounts are $1,000, and there are multiple scholarship categories that students can apply for.
San Diego City Council President Todd Gloria was one of PFLAG San Diego's earliest scholarship recipients and he recently gave some insight into his experience.
Applicants should have at least a 3.0 GPA, be a resident of San Diego County at time of application, and either be an LGBT high school senior with plans to pursue higher education, or be a LGBT full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Those selected for a scholarship must be available to attend the San Diego PFLAG Awards Ceremomy on May 19 to receive the award.
Evaluation of applicants is based on commitment to the candidate's goals in their chosen field, essay, financial need, and academic achievement.
Additional information and the application is available HERE. Applications must be received by Friday.
