SAN DIEGO -- Will you be my…volunteer? With Valentine’s Day here, I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) is giving local residents the chance to show their adoration for the local environment at their annual Cupid’s Cleanup event and mixer on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10 am to 1 pm.
Eco-minded singles, couples, and friends will come together that morning for a neighborhood clean-up meeting at Thorn Street Brewery at 3176 Thorn St. in North Park, before heading out to the cleanup.
Instead of a traditional beach cleanup, volunteers will join ILACSD for a neighborhood and canyon cleanup in North Park and South Park. Afterwards, participants can mix and mingle at a festive Valentine’s Day-themed mixer hosted by Thorn Street Brewery. Volunteers will receive complimentary beer tasters as a thank you for their hard work and to celebrate their love for a cleaner community.
“Events like Cupid’s Cleanup are vital to the health of the local environment because they keep trash off local beaches, out of local waterways and the ocean,” said Pauline Martinson, executive director, ILACSD. “By volunteering at Cupid’s Cleanup, participants can help to create a cleaner and safer environment for animals and people alike to swim, surf and play in San Diego’s beautiful coastal waters.”
Like all cleanups, each volunteer must sign a waiver to participate and any minors require an additional parent signature. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle. ILACSD will provide all necessary supplies such as water, snacks and community service verification forms.
