The Glenner Memory and Care Centers receives grant from San Diego Gay Men's Chorus

SAN DIEGO -- The Glenner Memory Care Centers was the beneficiary of the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus's (SDGMC) outreach program during its holiday concert season.

A local nonprofit providing programs and resources for those living with dementia, The Glenner was given $2,128 from donations collected in SDGMC's giant ruby red slipper in the lobby of the Balboa Theatre during two performances of "The Nutcracker (Men in Tights!)" in December. Throughout the course of the concert period, chorus members also personally donated hundreds of dollars of music and art supplies for participants at The Glenner.

SDGMC first tenor Kevin Hannahoe volunteers at The Glenner and suggested the organization as a beneficiary.

“I’m very supportive and appreciative of the good work The Glenner organization does for local seniors and their families,” said Hannahoe. “They offer a personal touch when caring for their clients."

SDGMC selects an outreach partner each concert period and donated thousands of dollars over the past 4 years to organizations that serve youth, people with HIV/AIDS, veterans, the homeless, and more.
