Women's Jell-O wrestling fundraiser to benefit homeless LGBT youth services

SAN DIEGO -- Thrown Down 4 A Cause (TD4ACAUSE) will host its 4th annual women's Jell-O wrestling fundraiser on Thursday, July 4 at Rich's Nightclub.

The event will benefit The San Diego LGBT Community Center's Youth Housing Project and Project LoveOutLoud's services for homeless youth.

TD4ACAUSE was created in 2010 by a group of friends and associates who wanted to create a positive impact in their community. The issue of greatest concern for the TD4ACAUSE committee was, and is, LGBT and homeless youth of San Diego. To draw larger attention to the adversities that youth are facing today and the access to services, the committee created a special night called TD4ACAUSE: Women's Jell-O Wrestling.

"We knew that people would get excited about an event that was a way to serve the community and was also a heck of a lot of fun," said Jennifer Grand, a founding a member for TD4ACAUSE. "This was the kind of event we wanted to go to, so we created it!"

Last year the TD4ACAUSE had over 200 attendees come out to support the various non-profits and raised over $4,500. This year the committee has its eyes set on much higher goals, first and foremost raising a whopping $25,000 for their cause. This will be the first year that the fundraiser will be held at Rich's Nightclub in Hillcrest in association with 607 Productions.

As with past events, there will be a two hour hosted bar, $1 Jell-O shots, multiple raffles and a night filled with Women's Jell-O Wrestling that kicks off at 6 pm. This year the TD4ACAUSE committee will present their very funny guest MC Julie Goldman of Autostraddle's "Julie & Brandy in Your Box Office" and Logo's "The Big Gay Sketch Show."

Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $25 at the door. A limited amount of VIP tickets are available for $50 which will include premium viewing, additional service level, keepsakes and hors d'oeuvres.

"Throw Down For A Cause is an event where people can come together to celebrate and support the brave LGBT and homeless youth of San Diego," said Tracey Minutolo, TD4ACAUSE committee and founding member. "Teenage bullying, suicide and homelessness are huge problems in our country and region; one night a year we throw this fundraiser to help support youth services that assist in mitigating these problems. This year the Committee is proud to have The San Diego LGBT Community Center's Sunburst Youth Housing Project and Project LoveOutLoud as our beneficiaries. We have a hosted bar for guests, the amazing Julie Goldman as our MC, raffles, and, of course, women's Jell-O wrestling. It's going to be FUN!”
