Fashionably Out: Facing your personal style

“The most delightful surprise in life is to suddenly recognize your own worth” – Maxwell Maltz

It happens that the more you face life, the more you realize how heavy the challenges for what you want are. You see that not everyone is going the same direction you are, and you come to a point where you have to make a decision between crossroads.

Sometimes these crossroads make you stop and think about who you are as a human being, and how you play (or can play) a role in this thing called life. It is during these moments when many people choose to disconnect with themselves and others. They fall into funk stages and start to lose care about themselves.

To put it nicely, they go down the Britney route. And we all know that’s not a pretty one.

Where is your style influencer going with this? By no means am I making fun of our girl Britney! The lesson here is that you start living in a rut where nothing excites you anymore. Your life is jaded and there is no longer that feeling of going on a “Rainbow Tour,” dominating the world the way Eva Peron once did!

The key to solving this state is to realize that your personal style influences your lifestyle - something that many people underestimate. Yes, you can’t change certain circumstances that are happening right now, but you can change the attitude (and the style) you face them in!

Here’s an example: Two months ago you were dating the person you thought you would sing happily ever after with, and now you find yourself in the single club again. And though your friends keep telling you that there was never anything wrong with you, in the back of your head you don’t fully believe it. You stop going to yoga and turn to Adele to help with the synchronized crying. Well, honey, there is no better solution than to pull an Elle Woods and throw that pink outfit back on - along with your confidence!

Start rediscovering what makes you unique and show that through your styling options. Find those little quirks that only you have and manifest them through your clothes! Ask yourself what inspires you, and dive into that full throttle! This is your life and your opportunity to get back on that runway and werq the crap out of it!

How does your style influencer deal when such catastrophes are cast upon him? He dances to Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce as he stands in front of his closet, letting the songs of these fierce women influence his outfit through some positive and empowering beats.

So maybe no one stops to compliment your outfit or asks to take a picture to hashtag it under #streetstyle on Instagram, but at least you feel good about yourself - and soon will start to feel different about the circumstances happening around you. Yes, you might not change the world, but you will start to realize that you are worth it. That you have value and have so much to offer - all you have to do is take the next step.

So many people underestimate the power of personal styling and think it’s all just meaningless - that there are other important things to think about. Well, what better way to start than with you!?

May this serve you as inspiration (and a slap in the face) to get up from whatever has been bothering you, pick yourself back up, find yourself through your personal style, and face the world with a new sparkle and attitude!

Because remaining glamorous and fierce is a full-time job.
