EQCA’s annual Equality Awards aren’t just about glamour and glitz. It’s a time to honor our selfless leaders. Celebrate community achievements. And renew our engagement in the fight for equality.
The black ties, sequins and champagne? That’s just icing on the cake.
Each year, Equality California recognizes individuals and organizations who have made an impact on the movement to secure full and lasting equality for LGBT people at its annual Equality Awards — a series of formal galas and cocktail events held in San Francisco, San Diego, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Sacramento. The Equality Awards recognize the achievements of the organization, its sponsors, members, staff and volunteers, as well as the LGBT community. Past honorees, among others, have included Facebook, Adam Lambert, Dolores Huerta, Molly Ringwald, Debra Messing, Arianna Huffington, Attorney General Kamala Harris and California Gov. Jerry Brown.
Every event captures the spirit of its host city. San Francisco, the historic heart of the nation’s LGBT movement. The oasis of Palm Springs. Sacramento’s Capitol Corridor. Theatrical stage performances only Hollywood could imagine. And the classy, casual beach style of San Diego.
Tickets to the San Diego awards event are $175. Sponsorships range from $1,750 to $50,000.
Valet parking is included and evening attire is suggested. The event will take place at The Prado at Balboa Park, located at 1549 El Prado.

Equality California, the largest statewide LGBT advocacy organization in California, works to secure full and lasting equality for and acceptance of LGBT people. Over the past decade, Equality California has partnered with social justice advocates, businesses and legislative leaders to strategically move California from a state with extremely limited legal protections for LGBT people to a state with some of the most comprehensive human rights protections in the nation. Equality California, together with our allies, has successfully sponsored more than 85 pieces of pro-equality legislation. EQCA continues to advance equality through legislative advocacy, electoral work, public education and community empowerment.
