San Diego Humane Society’s telethon to benefit animals in the community

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA will host its 16th annual Telethon for the Animals on Saturday, March 23, from 7 to 10 pm on KFMB Channel 8.

Celebrate the animals with co-hosts Barbara-Lee Edwards, Dan Cohen, Marcella Lee and the true stars of the show … the animals!

This three-hour, high energy, live broadcast will feature adoptable pets, informative videos about the Humane Society’s programs, heartwarming animal stories, the latest animal-related news and more; all while raising the vital funds to support the programs and services of the San Diego Humane Society.

Humane Society president, Dr. Gary Weitzman, will also announce the winners of the first-ever Animal Compassion Awards and will share their stories of true compassion and heroism.

As one of the oldest non-profits in San Diego, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA’s scope of social responsibility goes beyond adopting animals. The Humane Society offers San Diegans a wide range of programs and services that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty/neglect and educate the community on the humane treatment of animals.

Tune into KFMB Channel 8 on March 23 to see what the excitement is all about.
