"Where the Bears Are" DVD release parties to benefit local HIV/AIDS services

SAN DIEGO -- The cast of the wildly-popular online series "Where the Bears Are" will be in San Diego for two DVD release parties on Friday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 16.

Bears San Diego, a social group for "bears and bear fanciers," will be on hand at the parties to raise money for HIV/AIDS services provided by Family Health Centers of San Diego and Special Delivery.

"Where the Bears Are" is a comedy mystery web series that follows the exploits of three gay bear roommates living together in Los Angeles, as they attempt to solve the murder of a party guest that turned up dead in their bathroom.

Part “Golden Girls” and part “Murder, She Wrote,” the series consists of 25 four-minute episodes, and is a romp through L.A.’s trendy neighborhood of Silver Lake, and whose mystery eventually reaches it’s climax in the desert outside of Palm Springs.

The series has featured guest appearances by Bruce Daniels, Tuc Watkins, Jackie Beat, Brooke Dillman, Loretta Fox and Shawn Pelofsky.

The party on Friday, Dec. 14, will begin at 7 pm at Pecs, located at 2046 University Ave. in North Park. The Sunday, Dec. 16 event will be held from 3-7 pm at The Hole, located at 2820 Lytton Ave. in Point Loma.

Members of the cast will be on hand at both events, and participants will have the opportunity to buy DVDs and T-shirts, and donate to the fundraiser.
