SAN DIEGO -- In honor of LGBT History Month, which is observed each year in October, Imig's Kitchen Bar, located within The Lafayette Hotel, will host a special happy hour on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6-8 pm.
Guests at the event will be able to enjoy specialty cocktails named after LGBT icons, as well as complimentary hors d'oeuvres and half-off bottles of wine throughout the event. Short bios of the 31 icons honored this month will be displayed in the venue for attendees to read and learn about.
Also, a raffle for prizes donated by The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club, & Bungalows will be held with proceeds being donated to the San Diego Ambassadors of The Trevor Project.
The hotel, which is situated in San Diego's hip North Park neighborhood, opened in 1946, but recently went through a multimillion-dollar renovation. The property includes several guest rooms, meeting and event space, restaurants, a bar and the famous Johnny Weissmuller Pool, and is a popular hangout spot for the LGBT community.
Hotel staff say they want to give back to the local LGBT community, which has been a great supporter of the venue, and are hosting the event to reciprocate the support and celebrate diversity.
San Diego Gay & Lesbian News annually shares the LGBT History Month icons, selected by Equality Forum. This year's icons include people like Don Lemon, Gloria Anzaldua, Christine Jorgensen, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
The event is open to the public. Imig's Kitchen & Bar is located at 2223 El Cajon Blvd. within the hotel.
