SAN DIEGO -- The Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) held its Annual Meeting and Quarterly Member Open House on Tuesday evening, which included the election of the organization's 2012-13 board of directors.
Held at HBA member business Pita Jungle, the event was open to all community members, who were able to meet and interact with the organization's staff, board and volunteers.
Four board members were up for re-election along with six newly nominated candidates. The board members who were previously seated and ran for re-election all won another term, and four new members have been added to the board.
The 2012-13 HBA board of directors will include the following people, which include their business affiliation. Members with an asterisk by their name were re-elected, and members with a double asterisk were newly elected to the board.

"This year we're thrilled to welcome the newest members of our board. They represent Hillcrest businesses that are engaged and committed to the Hillcrest business district. They bring experienced voices and input as creative and motivated business leaders in our neighborhood. We're working on some major projects for 2013 and we know that these leaders will make a huge impact on Hillcrest," said Lisa Weir, HBA's Marketing & Communications director.
HBA represents over 1,200 businesses in the area, and works to promote its member businesses through special events, and community beautification projects. The organization annually puts on events like Hillcrest City Fest, the Hillcrest Hoedown, the Hillcrest Farmers Market, the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party, Taste 'n' Tinis and others.
The organization was also responsible for the installation of the Hillcrest Pride Flag, and is currently working on a number of other community beautification projects.
