SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Mountain Rescue (SDMRT), a volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives through search, rescue, and mountain safety education, will celebrate its 45th anniversary with a special celebration on Saturday, Sept. 8.
The organization is inviting the entire community to the event, but especially hopes that its past and present members, their family, friends, and fans of SDMRT will join them to honor the people who have been a part of the group's life-saving efforts since its founding.
In 1967, a search for two college students on the 10,154 foot tall Picacho del Diablo on the Baja California Peninsula began SDMRT. Since that time, the organization has grown and continues to send volunteers out on rescue expeditions in the county year after year.
The anniversary celebration will be a semi-casual evening, including food from Phil's BBQ, drinks, awards, photos, and fun. There will also be a silent auction, raffle, and prizes available for guests.
Those who wish to attend the event must register by Saturday, Sept. 1, HERE.
The event will take place at the Spring Valley Community Center, located at 8735 Jamacha Blvd.
