BARTENDER PROFILE: Kevin "Nelly" Gardner of Urban Mo's

Kevin Gardner, known by many as "Nelly," is a popular bartender in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego.

When asked his age, Kevin replied, "Do I have to give you my real age?" -- although we are certain he hasn't even hit 30 yet.

Hailing from Palm Springs, Kevin made it clear he is not from the city's Warm Sands neighborhood, home to many "clothing optional" resorts.

In response to our question about whether or not he is single or taken, he said, "Taken -- yes ... advantage of -- obvie."

Where can people find you at work:

It’s this place that I am not sure anyone has heard of … a fun place … Urban Mos? Have you heard of it? Hahaha

What's your favorite drink to make and why?

Chardonnay … twist off the top and pour … it’s easy and delicious … like me.

What drink do people order most often?

A Rose Kennedy. What’s that you ask? A f*cking vodka soda with a splash of cran.

What’s your pet peeve drink order?

My blender is broken … sorry. ;-)

What was your best and worst tip ever (and is there a backstory behind those)?

Best tip was “don’t eat yellow snow.”

Worst tip … when it’s just the tip.

What's the worst pick-up line you've ever received from a customer?

"I wrote the dictionary on my c*ck last night, if you come to my house I’ll put some words in your mouth!"

What’s the funniest thing you have seen take place during your shift?

Where do I start? Tranny fights, drink tosses, drunken debauchery, it’s Mo's… you know how it is… come see for yourself… or be a part of the funniest thing I WILL see.

What's the most scandalous thing you've ever witnessed while working?

Too much … my lips are sealed, check out the webcam.

What do you love most about your job?

When the clock strikes 3 the bell rings and it’s time for a staff meeting … AKA shot time!

In all seriousness … I love my job, customers, and my bosses are amazing. I am very blessed to be a part of such an amazing company. Mos Universe does so much for our community. I am glad to be a part of it.

What advice would you give someone wanting to enter your profession?

Build up your patience and alcohol tolerance.

If you were a cocktail what would you be and why?

Like I said earlier something easy … twist off the cap and pour … but with cool and complex undertones … it’s chardonnay bitches. ;-)
