SAN DIEGO -- A celebration of life has been planned for a much beloved member of the San Diego LGBT community who died this week after a long bout with inoperable brain cancer.
Charissa "Chazzy" Kolich died peacefully at home Monday, surrounded by her immediate family and her longtime partner, Cortney Reno. She was 36.
A friendly and welcoming face to all who came in contact with her at San Diego International Airport, where she worked for the last six years, Kolich spent her social time with family, her partner and her many adoring friends.
With them she enjoyed camping, sailing on San Diego Bay, attending FlawLES events, playing basketball, refereeing games, and shooting photography around the community.
Since her death, dozens of people have taken to Charissa's Facebook Page to share condolences, memories and photos of the woman who has inspired hundreds of people around the world with her courage, her spirit and her smile.
A celebration of Chazzy's life will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island, overlooking the ocean that she loved so much.
