Hillcrest Business Association mixer to discuss public safety

SAN DIEGO -- The Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) will discuss crime and public safety in the neighborhood at its next quarterly mixer on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 5:30 pm.

Hillcrest has recently experienced a rise in crime, including a string of storefront robberies last month, which has concerned many residents and business owners.

HBA plans to take a collaborative approach to keeping the community safe, and has invited representatives from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) to the mixer to answer questions. SDPD Community Relations Officer David Whitfield and Sgt. Lisa McKean of the Hillcrest SDPD Bike team have confirmed their attendance at the mixer.

Established in 1921, HBA is the oldest business association in San Diego. The organization strives to unify the businesses within a the Hillcrest business district to work toward a common goal of economically revitalizing their business district.

The mixer will take place at Luna Grill, 350 University Ave. Attendees will have the opportunity to win gift certificates from Luna Grill in a raffle to take place at the event.

Food will be provided by Luna Grill and wine from The Wine Lover.

Future mixers will be held on May 16, Aug. 1 and Nov. 14.
