BARTENDER PROFILE: Mike Sager - The Eagle

Working as a bartender at The Eagle, a local North Park bar that caters to the leather and fetish communities, Mike Sager has seen it all!

Staying true to his customers, Sager won't share most of the things he's seen and heard but did open up enough to talk about pet peeves, drinks, and sticky white stuff.

The 31-year-old Oceanside resident is happily taken. "I'm under lock and key to my mate," he said.

What's your favorite drink to make and why?

Long Islands - I love the classics.

What drink do people order most often?

Long Islands - I make them well.

What's your pet peeve drink order?

When people say "Cuba libre" and not just "rum and coke." It doesn't make you special.

What was your best and worst tip ever (and is there a backstory behind those)?

My best tip ever was in Vegas when I worked at 8 1/2 club. A card player had a great night and tipped $100 bucks every time he ordered a beer, I got him good and drunk.

My worst was on a party boat. It was a company credit card for the whole event and when we went to charge it, the amount was declined and I got stiffed for a four hour open bar for 300 dudes.

What's the worst pick-up line you've ever received from a customer?

I work at the Eagle so you the things I hear can't be repeated.

What's the funniest thing you've seen take place during a shift?

My fellow bartender Dutch falling into a huge puddle of white sticky stuff in front of 100 leather men. LOL, wow!

What's the most scandalous thing you've ever witnessed while working?

Again I am an Eagle bartender, a proud leather Stray who honors the old guard. So if I talk I would have to break my own neck all Ninja Style.

What do you love most about your job?

I like to think that I make the day a little better for all my customers, it's a good feeling when people like you. And I get to wear really sexy shit.

What advice would you give someone wanting to enter your profession?

Don't give up, and remember its okay to trust people if you're trustworthy.

If you were a cocktail, what would you be and why?

I would be a surfer on acid. Tee hee is why!
