SAN DIEGO -- Following their 10 am service on Sunday, Nov. 13, the Missiongathering church will be hosting a Health and Wellness fair for the community, from noon to 4 pm.
Called the Wellness3 -- Mind, Body, Soul Health and Wellness Fair, this free event will be held on the church's recently acquired grounds, 3090 Polk Ave, located at the northwest corner of Illlinois and Polk, in North Park.
The event is open to the public and will feature valuable health and wellness information, and offer free giveaways and raffle prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.
The church, which held its grand opening only five months ago after taking over an old Korean church that had long stood vacant, is committed to making an impact on the surrounding community.
"We are all mental, physical, and spiritual people," says Missiongathering Spiritual Formation Pastor Alex Roller. "Being healthy means that we need to be well in all those areas of our lives and Wellness3 provides our neighbors with valuable health and wellness information."
To ensure a quality health fair, Missiongathering has partnered with both Walgreens and Lead the Way to provide free health screenings and confidential HIV testing for those attending. Information gathered from these important screenings can help people make informed decisions about their own healthy behaviors.
In addition, a variety of other local health and wellness businesses and community organizations will offer resources and there will even be fun activities for children in a Kid Zone. Those activities include exercise with local Eveoke Dance Studio, book readings, and sidewalk art.
"Wellness3 has something for everyone in your family," says Roller. "It’s a great way to get connected with health and wellness services around North Park and get out and meet some of your neighbors."
