Tickets on sale for Sunday’s Nicky Awards

SAN DIEGO -- Tickets are still available for the 35th annual Nicky Awards.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at The Center in Hillcrest. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP seating.

The Nicky Awards, one of the oldest GLBT community awards events in the country, honor outstanding achievement in arts, social service, entertainment, nightlife, business, dining, activism, philanthropy, volunteerism and individual accomplishment from San Diego’s thriving GLBT community supporters and allies.

Winners will be announced in 45 categories, as well as recipients of the event’s highest honors. These include the Mayor George Moscone Award, being presented to the City of West Hollywood; and Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts, which will be presented to heavy metal music icon Rob Halford of Judas Priest.

The evening will also include entertainment with NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” finalist The Platt Brothers. Also appearing will be super diva Morgan McMichaels of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” as seen on VH1 and LOGO.

Tickets are available online at www.nickyawards.com, by calling Mike at (619) 254-6372, or by check at The Center. Online purchases will be available at will call on the day of the event starting at 4 p.m., with ID required to pick up tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the door for an additional $10 on the day of the event.

Proceeds from the event go to The Center, The Imperial Court and the Milk/Ramirez Student Scholarships (founded in 1979).
