Peaceful protest march planned for Saturday to conclude at Hillcrest Pride Flag
A peaceful, prideful protest and march for equality is being held this Saturday, June 6 starting at 10 am. Participants will gather at at the County of San Diego Administration Building at 10 am for a program and then march into Hillcrest, ending at the Hillcrest Pride Flag.
The event, intended to uplift Black community members, is being organized by community member Charles Albert Brown who posted the following information:
Please join me in a peaceful, prideful, protest march for equality. Our country is in need of love and healing. I am calling on everyone to help and support this movement.
We will start at the County Administration Building and make our way to Hillcrest ending at the Pride Flag.
Please wear a mask. We will also obey all traffic laws and use sidewalks.
I am asking that everyone bring a mask with them for COVID-19 safety. I will provide two handsanitizer stations at the steps of the County Administration. I will also have some mask and gloves available. First come - First served. But if you can, please bring your own.
I am humbled and overwhelmed by the support of the San Diego community.

Brown is asking that those who attend be sure to bring with them the following essentials: masks, water, snacks, backpack, battery chargers, and comfortable shoes for walking, dancing, and marching. He is also asking that people use the hashtag #IStand4Change throughout the event with their social media posts.

Organizers say they will provide water at the beginning and end of the march, as well as hand sanitizer stations - although participants should be prepared to bring their own necessary supplies as well.

The event will begin on the steps of the County Administration Building at 10 am, located at 1600 Pacific Highway. A program will commence at 10 am, with the march to Hillcrest kicking off at 11 am, ending at the Hillcrest Pride Flag located on Normal Street at University Avenue. The event will conclude at 1 pm. The lineup of speakers and entertainment is said to be announced soon.
