Some Chula Vista parents and religious leaders not happy that Drag Queen Story Hour is headed to their library.

Drag queens across the country are going to the library to read to young children in a program called "Drag Queen Storytime," while some San Diegans think this type of community event is overdue others in Chula Vista are calling foul and have no interest in allowing their children to check it out when it debuts at their local branch next month. 

Blaze in Hillcrest closes roads

Fire fighters battle blaze at 3922 Park Boulevard.

Tuesday morning officials closed roads around a residential area in Hillcrest while they battled a large fire in a building on Park Boulevard. The site is a vacant former salon and day spa.

The fire broke out at about 8 am just a few blocks from the San Diego LGBT Community Center and Hillcrest Pride Flag.

If you've been in Hillcrest for any amount of time on any given day, you might hear the word "bitch" being thrown around in a playful way. Now the word is attached to brunch and people are lining up to get a taste.

A four-ship F-15 flyover from Cal Guard's Fresno 144th Fighter Wing shook windows and eardrums all across Hillcrest and its surrounding areas in a salute to transgender military service members.
