Equality Forum to celebrate LGBT History Month with 31 icons

Equality Forum will again honor LGBT History Month this October by spotlighting 31 icons who have made contributions to the community.

Each year 31 LGBT icons, living or dead, are selected for achievements in their field of endeavor; for their status as a national hero; or for their significant contribution to LGBT civil rights. Equality Forum solicits nominations from regional, state, national and international organizations, activists, and the public.

LGBT History Month co-chairs Anne Balay and Ken Lustbader review all nominations and recommend the annual Icons.

Equality Forum has been spotlighting icons since 2006 and community members can view all past icons here. The website includes comprehensive information about each icon, including a bio, video, photos, and more.

As has been our tradition since 2009, San Diego LGBT News will cross-post the icons on our site. Check back here regularly throughout October to see the icons and their bios.

The list of 2021 icons is below. Their bios, photos and videos will be released one per day throughout October, and will be re-posted here on SDLGBTN.
