The mayor will discuss citywide and neighborhood issues and take questions from participants.
City of San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria will be the guest speaker at tonight's Hillcrest Town Council (HTC) meeting, held on Zoom.
The mayor is expected to discuss citywide and neighborhood issues of importance and take questions from participants. This is Mayor Gloria's first visit to the HTC since taking office in December.
As the city's city's 37th mayor, Gloria is the first person-of-color and the first LGBTQ person to ever be elected the city’s Mayor. A lifelong San Diegan, Gloria is well-known in Hillcrest as he previously served as a representative for former Congresswoman Susan Davis, was elected and served as the Councilmember for District 3 from 2009-2016, and was the State Assemblymember for District 78 from 2016-2020. He also briefly served as the City's interim mayor following the 2013 resignation of then-Mayor Bob Filner.
The Hillcrest Town Council provides a voice for the residents of Hillcrest. Through monthly town hall meetings, community members are able to come together to hear about neighborhood issues and ask questions of their elected officials or their representatives.
Council President Pro Tem Stephen Whitburn spoke at HTC's meeting last month, and Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs spoke at the group's January meeting.
Tonight's meeting begins at 6:30 pm, with Mayor Gloria scheduled to speak around 7:30 pm.
