The organization's board and staff say they committed deeply to the strategic planning, which saw more than 2,000 community stakeholders and volunteers participate in a deep, broad, intentional, and thoughtful community engagement process.
Dear Center Community,
We are reaching out to share some very exciting news with you. The Center has released our 2020 Annual Report, which includes the organization’s updated Strategic Plan for the next three years. The Strategic Plan was created following months of rich community feedback and engagement (conducted prior to the COVID-19 pandemic). The report also includes The Center’s responses to the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice that has impacted the San Diego LGBTQ community.
As we continue to strive to be an inclusive, responsive, and transparent community organization, The Center is proud of all that we’ve accomplished together as a community this year and you’ll see that reflected in the Annual Report. Equally essential, The Center’s Strategic Plan is an important accomplishment that is the result of a significant investment of time, resources, and energy from our community. Our board and staff committed deeply to this process, which saw more than 2,000 community stakeholders and volunteers participate in a deep, broad, intentional, and thoughtful community engagement process. We look forward to working with all of our stakeholders to fully and successfully accomplish the goals and aspirations outlined in our Strategic Plan.
The Strategic Plan outlines a three-year vision for the work of The Center, including updated mission and vision statements. The plan also includes a statement of Center values focused on dignity, inclusion, compassion, respect, equity, and equality. The major objective areas outlined in the plan include expanding services and programs, as well as expanding outreach and engagement to underserved and/or disengaged communities, increasing communication and partnerships, and more. The five major objectives are focused on critical services, essential support, quality valued, robust engagement, and truly serving as the community’s center.
The plan identifies five strategies in key areas, which will be necessary to achieve the objectives articulated in the plan. Those strategies are:
- Embrace, promote, and support our community’s rich diversity in our leadership, programs, and membership.
- Provide critical life and health services.
- Support our community members through all stages of life, including coming out, transitioning, and supporting their family and friends.
- Enhance the quality of life and wellness for our community at all stages of life with programs and events.
- Empower community, develop leaders, advocate for social justice, and celebrate community.
Thank you to our wonderful community all for your input, ideas, and passion that brought us to this point in The Center’s history. We hope you enjoy the journey through the past year in our Annual Report and look forward to creating a bright future together with our Strategic Plan as our North Star.
